Unilodge is a leading provider of student accommodation across Australia and New Zealand, serving a diverse community of international and local students. Recognising that many residents struggled with roommate compatibility and personality conflicts, the company identified an opportunity to enhance the student experience through a new "Roommates" feature within their existing mobile application.
For this project, I utilised a Design Sprint methodology, moving from initial problem-mapping and rapid sketching to the development of a high-fidelity prototype. The process focused on building a tailored compatibility questionnaire and an integrated messaging system, which I then put through iterative user testing to ensure the interface met the real-world needs of the student community.
The result is an intuitive digital tool that simplifies the roommate search, reducing stress and promoting genuine connections. By displaying clear match percentages and offering a private chat space, the design fosters trust and supports students in forming meaningful relationships. This seamless experience helps make the transition to university life smoother, turning a common concern into a positive, personal journey.
